We love to head East out of the city during the summer to Prince Edward County (PEC) whenever we get the chance. A quick 2.5 hour drive from home, a picturesque setting of Canadiana towns await in splendor. The air is fresh, the people are friendly, and the wine is delicious. Here are some photos of our most recent jaunt in the 'County'.
Driving South off the 401, the view from the windshield is best described as "panoramic eye-candy" of quintessential red barns like this one here. The sky was particularly threatening this day, enhanced by the lovely black smudge mark on my lens.
Our first stop was Closson Chase, for their sweet and aromatic Chardonnays. We just love the barn setting and the beautiful gardens that surround the vinyard. I could spend the whole day here but lucky for the owners, the rain came and we got back in the car to move on to our next spot.
Don't you just love tihs pretty Church? I hope to make a painting one day with this as my inspiration.
I love special little details like this. We checked into our Air BnB and much to my delight, the homeowner had cut fresh peonies from her garden which gave our room the most wonderful scent. We took advantage of the Wifi to take one last check of the MLS before heading to dinner, and I sorted out that unsightly smudge on my camera.
Different hens lay assorted coloured eggs like these ones here from a home raised variety. Making my breakfast rainbow coloured is almost enough to convince me to eat in the AM (I'm not a morning person and usually run on coffee until lunch)!
Being Dachshund owners, we were told by a few different friends about Long Dog winery, so we had to go check it out. Lucky for us, not only were there adorable puppies running around, the wine was also incredible! We made sure to take home a bottle of their "Top Dog" Pinot Noir to enjoy at home later in the summer.
We spent our second afternoon antiquing and scored some great finds. On our way out, I made Daniel stop the car so that I could take a quick snap of this awesome old sign. We can't wait to go back to PEC again and again!
